Join us for the first Arts Tech Seattle Meetup! A series of short presentations considering code within the context of "craft values."
While our pervasive digital culture has instigated a renewed interest in the creation of handmade objects with traditional media, there is also a new generation of artists who use tools such as 3D printing and open-source software to blur the line between handicraft and industrial production. Does this shift represent a return to craft values or craft fetishism? Is code a craft skill or an art in its own right?
Participants will discuss their work and the obstacles of visualizing and fabricating code, from the virtual to the physical.

The Seattle Arts and Technology Meetup is a new platform for investigating collaboration and experimentation in the arts, technology and design. We organize educational programs and social/networking events for individuals working at the intersection of art and tech to share ideas, strategies, successes, challenges and failures.
Events begin in September at the DXARTS Ballard Fab Lab.
